japan loot

While I sort out some Japan happy snaps to post, I thought I’d share some of our purchases from the trip. We were very restrained this time, I must say! I think we had it in the back of our minds the whole time that we’d have to come home and start spending up big on baby stuff so thought it best not to smash the credit card too much.

I spotted the Kinfolk in a department store and rushed to buy it only to realise I’d picked up the Japanese version. A few days later I saw the English version in Muji and spent the day kicking myself. Anyone want to translate for me? The grey textile is from the Claska shop, Do (the new Shibuya branch), and despite looking like a table runner in this picture it is actually a modesty towel the Japanese use in onsens. I couldn’t get over the weave, the colour and the texture so had to have it. I thought I might use it as a wall hanging but I actually really love it as a table runner now! The ceramic vessel and bronze hammered spoon are from a favourite shop of mine, Kohoro. I could spend hours in there drooling over the ceramics, wooden carved utensils and brass objects. We are going to use this beauty as our sugar pot.

I thought I would go nuts on kids stuff in Japan but once I arrived I realised how hard it would be as everything was so gender specific. I almost wished we had found out the sex now at our last scan… Mind you, a lot of the baby stuff was so expensive it was hard to justify so I’m glad we at least came away with a few cute things that happened to be on sale. Meercat t-shirt is from Muji, the gorgeous little polka dot hat is from a kids store in Ginza that I forget the name of and the socks are from a cute little shop (in a neighbourhood I’ll talk about later) called Hug O’War.
